We want to share with you our 'why' on becoming a doula, and how the title 'It's Not Just Another Bad Hair Day'  was chosen to start creating our podcast for people experiencing death, loss and grief. Having a sense of humour does not take away what you are going through it is a healthy and normal coping mechanism. It can provide temporary relief and help you in dealing with your emotions. Of course we want to respect all situations and checking in with others is helpful to know where people are at, and how to proceed. It may be sharing funny moments you had with your deceased friend or loved one, and can start a beautiful memoir of collected stories.

Introducing Our Cohorts: Their Grief Support Tools & Their Doula Specialties

In our next series of episodes on It’s Not Just Another Bad Hair Day, we’re so excited to introduce you to the incredible doulas from our training cohort. Each of them brings their own heart, lived experience, and unique specialty to the world of grief, end-of-life care, and compassionate support.

Because—just like a bad hair day—grief shows up differently for everyone. It can feel messy, tangled, unpredictable, or like you woke up and the universe said, ‘Oh… we’re doing this today.’ And every doula has their own set of tools, perspectives, and approaches that help people navigate those days.

In this series, you’ll meet:

  • Doulas who specialize in legacy work and holding space for stories
  • Doulas focused on disability and chronic illness
  • Doulas working in anticipatory grief, disenfranchised grief, or spiritual transitions
  • Doulas working in Pet Loss
  • Practical support doulas who guide pre-planning, paperwork, and after-death care
  • And heart-centered companions whose gifts come through presence, listening, grounding, and emotional safety

Each episode will explore:

Their “why” for becoming a doula

The grief tools they carry in their work

What specialty or population they feel called to support

The wisdom they’ve learned along the way

How they help people through the days when life feels anything but put together
